厂 Oblique is a site-specific art installation for the London Design Festival 2024 at Perfetii Gallery, merging the cultural heritage of Chinese Shanshui scroll painting with the tradition of British fabric craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from the act of unrolling a scroll to reveal art within, 厂acts as both the backdrop and the vessel for a curated collection of artworks by Chinese artists based in the UK.

It invites the audience to engage with the art incrementally - piece by piece - encouraging close examination of both the details and the entirety. This spatial narrative of “unfolding” is designed to be interpreted by body instead of by eyes, allowing the audience to physically and emotionally immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Chinese art, bridging cultural narratives through a unique and immersive experience.
